About the President

RALPH JEFFERY MCCANN

Educational Background

Dr. McCann has earned the following degrees:
Ph.D., Curriculum and Instruction, Psychology Minor, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill;

    C.A.S., Middle School Mathematics, University of North Carolina at Greensboro;
    M.Ed., Educational Administration, University of North Carolina at Greensboro;
    B.S., Secondary Mathematics Education, Winston-Salem State University;
    B.R.E., Christian Education, Piedmont Baptist College and Graduate School;
Additional Course Work in Education and Social Studies at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and High Point University.

Work Experience

Dr. McCann has been in ministry since 1974 serving in a variety of ministries and roles. For 18 years he served as a professor, division chair, Vice President of Academics, and Vice President of Institutional Effectiveness at Piedmont Baptist College and Graduate School in Winston-Salem, NC. For six years he was the Associate Executive Director or Regional Coordinator of Transnational Association of Christian Colleges and Schools. TRACS is a US Department of Education and CHEA approved accrediting agency. His teaching experience has included five-year kindergarten through graduate school with additional experience as a school administrator.

Work-Related Experiences

He has been involved in international travel and teaching in Singapore, Bangladesh, and Egypt; international travel and staff visits in Mexico, Trinidad, Dominican Republic, Saipan, Zambia, South Korea, and Guam. He had led team visits to Romania, Spain, and Saipan. He pastored a church from 1970 to 1973 and is currently a deacon in a local church.

Organizational Memberships

He has had memberships in North Carolina Association of Institutional Research, Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development, National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, and Eastern Deans of the Accrediting Association of Bible Colleges. Currently, he serves on the Board of Directors, Fundamental Baptist Mission of Trinidad and Tobago and on the General Council of Baptist Mid-Missions.

Teacher Certification Status

He holds North Carolina Class Teaching Licensure in Secondary Mathematics, Middle School Social Studies, Language Arts, Mathematics; and Elementary Education as well as possessing a Principal's Certificate.
